In their official platforms, the parties have made the following commitments to Ontario\u2019s screen-based industries. Check this space regularly for updates, which will be posted as we get them.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget that all the information you need to vote on June 7th can be found on the Elections Ontario website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Green Party<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Green Party released their platform on May 9, 2018.<\/p>\n

There is no specific mention of the screen-based industries in the platform, although culture is included in the platform\u2019s general language about \u201cjobs of the future\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Green Party is also indicating that they will redirect $3.1 billion in existing business support programs, which include the screen-baed tax credits, to cleantech innovation, advanced manufacturing and bio-products (p. 14).<\/p>\n

\n\"\"Liberal Party<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Liberal Party released their platform on May 26, 2018. The commitments in the platform are similar to those outlined in the 2018 Provincial Budget.<\/p>\n

As part of their Jobs and Growth Plan<\/strong>, the Liberals have committed to stable screen-based tax credits and working with the industry to design a program to support the construction of new studio space. (p. 23)<\/p>\n

The Liberal platform also cites investing in the film and TV industry as part of their plan to Invest in Vibrant Communities<\/strong>, (p. 38) but does not cite any industry-specific investments.<\/p>\n

\n\"\"New Democratic Party<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The NDP released their platform on April 16, 2018.<\/p>\n

The NDP platform addresses culture in the section titled An Economy Running on All Cylinders<\/strong> (p. 75-6). The NDP have committed to stable, predictable and competitive tax credits and to investing $50 million over the next five years in new studio space through the Jobs and Prosperity Fund. The studio commitment also includes language about working with municipal governments on zoning issues related to studio space.<\/p>\n

Finally, the NDP platform states that they will stabilize annual funding for the Ontario Media Development Corporation.<\/p>\n


\n\"\"Progressive Conservative Party<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The PC Party\u2019s Plan for the People does not mention the film and television industry.<\/p>\n
